一、华侨大学简介

华侨大学1960年创办于著名侨乡福建省泉州市,是周恩来总理亲自批准设立、中国第一所以“华侨”命名的高等学府,直属于国务院侨务办公室,是国家重点建设的综合性大学,也是国务院侨办与福建省、泉州市、厦门市共建的综合性大学。

华侨大学位于中国福建省,校区分别在联合国最佳人居奖的海上花园城市——厦门市和东亚文化之都、中国首批历史文化名城——泉州市。

华侨大学华文学院是华侨大学承担华文教育专业教学任务的教学单位,是中国教育部首批公布的有资格招收外国留学生的单位之一,是中国国务院侨务办公室首批批准的华文教育基地之一,是国家汉办支持周边国家汉语教学重点学校之一,是国家在福建省最早设立的汉语水平考试(HSK)考点。

华文学院前身为集美华侨学生补习学校,1953年著名侨领陈嘉庚先生受中国政府委托创办,1997年中国国务院侨务办公室决定将集美侨校成建制并入华侨大学,与华侨大学对外汉语教学部合并,成立华文学院。66年来,华文学院始终秉承“为侨服务、传播中华文化”的宗旨,弘扬陈嘉庚先生严谨治校的办学精神,以弘扬中华文化为已任,为世界90多个国家和地区培养了8万多名的境内外学生。目前,学院有境外生近1500人,来自包括印尼、泰国、菲律宾、马来西亚、越南、老挝、缅甸、蒙古、韩国、日本、美国、波兰、荷兰、西班牙、意大利、俄罗斯、乌克兰、安哥拉、斯里兰卡、毛里求斯、马达加斯加及中国的香港、澳门、台湾等50多个国家和地区。

二、海外华文教育专业学生奖学金简介

(一)设立背景及申请对象

海外华文教育专业学生奖学金由中国国务院侨务办公室于2005年设立,面向海外,资助有志于从事华文教育、年龄在35周岁以下的华侨华人攻读华文教育本科专业。

(二)申请方法

申请人通过中国驻所在国使领馆或使领馆委托的单位申请。申请人须与当地华侨华人社团或学校签订协议书,保证毕业后回所在国从事华文教育工作5年以上。

(三)奖学金内容

奖学金包括四年学费、住宿费和一定数额的生活费。

三、专业介绍

(一)教学内容及培养目标

华文教育专业以中国语言文化和汉语作为第二语言教学的理论方法为基本教学内容,旨在培养能够全面系统掌握汉语专业知识和技能,了解中国历史文化,掌握华文教育教学规律和方法,能够从事华文教育工作,具有一定研究能力的华文教学、管理人才。

(二)专业特色

华文教育专业面向海外培养华文教育师资和教育教学管理人员,要求学生掌握海外华文教育的基本原理和方法,系统掌握汉语和中华文化的基本知识,具备以汉语为教学语言、针对海外华侨华人开展华文教育的良好能力。

(三)学制、毕业及学位授予

学制四年,实行学分制。学生修完培养方案中规定的学分,获得汉语水平考试HSK5210分以上证书,德、体合格,准予毕业。符合学位条件规定者,授予教育学学士学位

四、招生对象及入学条件

凡有志于从事华文教育工作、具有海外高中毕业以上(含高中毕业)学历或同等程度学历、年龄不超过35周岁,品行端正,无犯罪记录,身心健康的海外华侨华人学生均可报读。

海外华侨学生须在侨居国出生或汉语非母语,学生本人及其父母一方均须取得住在国长期或者永久居留权且最近4年(截止报名时间结束止)之内有在国外居住2年以上的记录(一年中实际在国外居住满9个月可按一年计算,出国留学和因公出国工作不能视为定居)。中国大陆、香港、澳门和台湾居民在移民外国后,作为外国留学生,必须持有效的外国护照或国籍证明文件4年及4年以上,且最近4年(截止报名结束时间止)之内有在国外实际居住2年以上的记录。

五、入学方式

可直接申请,经审核后,择优录取。

六、报名方法

(一)海外华文教育专业学生奖学金申请人请与中国驻所在国大使馆联系或其委托的学校或机构联系。

(二)自费生可由推荐单位、推荐人或本人申请报名,通过面交、邮寄、传真或电子邮件等形式向华侨大学华文学院招生办公室提交报名材料。

七、报名材料

(一)奖学金生申请者填写《华侨大学华文教育专业学生奖学金申请表》,自费生填写《华侨大学华文学院外国留学生入学申请表》。表格请登陆网站http://hwxy.hqu.edu.cn招生专题网下载后填写打印出来,并签字确认。

(二)两张小二寸(尺寸为:35mmx50mm)的半身近期彩色免冠相片。

(三)护照复印件,报到时查验原件。

海外华侨学生须提交学生本人及其具有华侨身份父母一方的中华人民共和国护照复印件,与其具在华侨身份父母一方的法律关系的证明文书,外国长期或永久居留证,及由我驻外使领馆出具的本人及其父母一方取得外国长期或永久居留权的认证书(中文版,须注明已在住在国连续居留时间及两年内实际累计居留时间),以及由出入境管理部门出具的考生本人最近四年内(截至报名时间结束止)的《出入境记录查询结果》。

中国大陆、香港、澳门和台湾居民在移民外国后,作为外国留学生,必须持有效的外国护照或国籍证明文件4年(含)以上,且最近4年(截至报名时间结束止)之内有在国外实际居住2年以上的记录(一年中实际在国外居住满9个月可按一年计算,以入境和出境签章为准),以及由出入境管理部门出具的考生本人最近四年内(截至报名时间结束止)的《出入境记录查询结果》。

(四)高中及以上学历的毕业证书或学历证明,各学年成绩单,需经我驻外使领馆公证或认证,若为非中文或英文版本,需翻译成中文或英文。报到时查验原件。

(五)中国驻所在国使领馆或当地侨团侨社或中学校长的推荐信原件。建议推荐机构对所推荐学生进行心理筛查,不予推荐心理不健康者。

(六)奖学金申请人填写《中国国务院侨办华文教育专业全日制本科奖学金学生毕业回国服务协议书》。

(七)外国人体检检查表

学生须在所在国医疗机构先行进行体检,携带医疗机构出示的《外国人体格检查表》、X光片、血液检查记录等体检报告原件到校报到。

八、报名截止时间

奖学金生:2019530日截止报名,自费生:2019630日截止报名。

九、学习签证的办理

华人学生凭录取通知书,外籍学生凭录取通知书及 JW202表到中国驻所在国的大使馆或领事馆办理来华学习签证(X1)。进入中国30天内,所有学生必须将学习签证X”转换成居留许可,办证费用自理

十、保险

根据中国教育部的要求,凡计划在华学习一个学期以上的外国留学生,建议学生在入学前购买保险,按学院提供《学生保险购买流程》购买海外学生综合险,入学时查验保险单。

十一、费用

(一)报名费:500元人民币。

(二)教材费:600元人民币/年。

(三)学费:15000/学年,获得中国国务院侨务办公室海外华文教育专业学生奖学金的学生免学费。

(四)住宿:1300/学年,获得中国国务院侨务办公室海外华文教育专业学生奖学金的学生免住宿费,由学校统一安排住宿,六人一间,配备空调、热水器、独立卫生间等设备、设施。

(五)生活费:获得中国国务院侨务办公室海外华文教育专业学生奖学金的学生每年享受一定数额的生活费补贴,按月领取。

2019 Admission Prospectus of the Chinese Language and Culture Education

Undergraduate Specialty of Huaqiao University of the People’s Republic of China

I. Brief Introduction to Huaqiao University

Huaqiao University was established with the approval of the revered Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in 1960. It was based in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, a well-known hometown to many overseas Chinese. It is the first higher education institution intended for and named after Huaqiao. As a comprehensive university included in the national priority project, HQU is directly supervised by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and jointly constructed by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Fujian Provincial People's Government, the Quanzhou Municipal Government and the Xiamen Municipal Government.

HQU has two campuses, respectively in Xiamen and Quanzhou. The former, dubbed “Glittering Pearl on the Sea” of China, is ranked as the Best City for Human Residence by the United Nations. The latter, dubbed “Hub of Eastern Asia”, is listed as a most famous historic and cultural city in China.

Rated as "Excellent" by the Ministry of Education in its first Undergraduate Teaching Performance Assessment, HQU currently consists of 28 colleges with 94 undergraduate programs, among which 10 have achieved the engineering education certification. There are 27 Master's programs of the first-level disciplines, 2 Master's programs of the second-level disciplines and 20 professional Master's programs, together with 8 Doctoral programs of the first-level disciplines, 2 Doctoral programs of the second-level disciplines and 5 Post-doctoral research centers in the university. The university offers 12 discipline categories including Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Management and Arts, forming a coordinately developed discipline system that combines arts with science, integrates science with engineering and couples engineering with management. The university incorporates 41 state or provincial key disciplines and 17 provincial peak and plateau disciplines, among which Engineering, Material Science and Chemistry rank among the top one-percent in ESI (Essential Science Indicators). In 2018, the university ranked 28th in the comprehensive university list of Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2018 and 86th on its general list. Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2018 includes 4,999 disciplines from 460 universities in the Chinese mainland, among which 93 are first-level disciplines. Compared with 19 disciplines in 2017, 20 of HQU have been listed in 2018, ranking 83rd among the listed universities.

HQU is among the first Chinese higher education institutions to be authorized to admit overseas Chinese and foreign students. Currently, the university has approximately 30,000 students, including 5000 overseas Chinese and foreign students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and 50 foreign countries. HQU actively develops international cooperation, becoming partners with 200 universities in 50 countries from the five continents. The university is also one of the officially acknowledged universities that are enrolling international students funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship and has 84 admission offices across the globe.

HQU is oriented to students from abroad, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, aiming to serve overseas Chinese and spread Chinese culture, committing itself to the school principle of Integration of Chinese Wisdom and Foreign Expertise, Unification of Moral Character and Professional Excellence. Over 200,000 students of all levels have graduated from the university since its establishment. Around 50,000 alumni live abroad, mainly distributed in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and countries or regions along the Maritime Silk Road, and have become friendship envoy in promoting communication and cooperation between China and those countries.

HQU covers an area of 2,500,000 square meters, providing well-equipped facilities and advanced laboratories for teaching and research. The school boasts a library with a collection of 4.7 million books, well-furnished dormitories, acclaimed school canteens as well as resources for a variety of sports, such as basketball, football, badminton, swimming and rock climbing. It’s an ideal place for students to grow and engage in their scholarly pursuit.

Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University is a teaching unit undertaking the teaching task of the Chinese language and culture education specialty, one of the first institutions qualified by China Ministry of Education to admit overseas students, one of the first bases for the Chinese language and culture education, officially approved by the State council’s Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs, one of the key schools, supported by China Hanban (National Office of Chinese), undertake the special mission of teaching Chinese to adjacent countries, and the earliest HSK testing centre in Fujian province.

Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University, formerly called Jimei Continuation School for Overseas Students, established in 1953 by the famous overseas Chinese leader, Mr. Tan Ka Kee, entrusted by Chinese government. The State Council’s Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs made a decision in 1997 that Jimei Continuation School be incorporated into Huaqiao University as Chinese Language and Culture College, combined with the department of teaching Chinese as a foreign language of Huaqiao University. For over 60 years, Chinese Language and Culture College is committed to serving overseas Chinese and spreading Chinese Culture, following Mr. Tan Ka Kee’s strict school-running spirit, promoting Chinese culture, and has cultivated over 80,000 students from over 90 countries and regions. Presently, the college has about 1,500 foreign students from over 50 countries and regions, such as Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, America, Poland, Nederland, Spanish, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Angola, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Madagascar and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China, and so on.

Chinese Language and Culture College offers three academic master degree programs: Mandarin Chinese and Chinese Language and Culture Education, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Chinese International Education; three undergraduate specialties: Chinese International Education, Chinese Language and Culture Education, Chinese Language. The college not only sets up academic education for postgraduates, undergraduates, junior college students, and non-academic education on preliminary, intermediate, and senior levels; but also offers multiple school-running forms, such as short-term Chinese training class, overseas Chinese teachers training class, summer (winter) camp for overseas students, preparatory course for overseas Chinese, and so on. The college has formed a multi-level and multi-form school-running system, which takes Chinese language and culture education as its main task, and has made outstanding contributions to the spreading of Chinese cultures and the development of overseas Chinese education, and thus enjoys a high reputation abroad.

II. Brief Introduction to the Scholarship for the Students of Overseas Chinese Language and Culture Education Specialty

1. Foundation Background and Application Object

The Scholarship for the Students of Overseas Chinese Language and Culture Education Specialty was set up by the State Council’s Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs in 2005, especially intended for the overseas Chinese who are aged less than 35 and aim to undertake the career of the Chinese language and culture education after completing the courses of the specialty.

2. Application Method

Applicants should apply for the scholarship via their local embassies or consulates, or certain unit entrusted by an embassy or a consulate. Applicants should sign an agreement with their local overseas Chinese communities or schools to guarantee carrying on the career of the Chinese language and culture education in their native countries for at least 5 years after graduating from this specialty.

3. Contents of the Scholarship

This Scholarship covers four years’ tuition fees, and four years’ accommodation fees, and a certain sum of living expenses.

III. Introduction to the Specialty

1. Teaching Contents and Cultivation Purpose

The Chinese language and culture education specialty takes the Chinese language, literary culture, and pedagogy as its basic teaching contents, and aims at cultivating teaching talents and talented managers who are able to wholly and systematically master the professional knowledge and skills of the Chinese language, know about Chinese historical culture, master teaching laws and methods of the Chinese language and culture education, undertake the work of the Chinese language and culture education, and possess certain research ability.

2. Features of the Specialty

The grogram is aimed to train Chinese Language teachers and management staff for overseas education institutions. Students learn systematically subjects concerning Chinese language and culture, language teaching methods, and will be equipped with skills and abilities required of to teach Chinese language abroad.

3. Program Duration, Graduation Requirement, and Degree Granting

The program duration is four academic years, and an academic credit system is adopted. Students who have completed the stipulated credits of the cultivation scheme and achieved a score of 210 points in HSK Level-5 test will be qualified for graduation and granted bachelor’s degree in education.

IV. Admission Candidates and Entrance Requirement

Overseas Chinese students who bear senior high school or higher diploma and aim to undertake the work of the Chinese language and culture education, can enroll for this specialty. Candidates should be aged less than 35, provide certificates of decent conducts, clean criminal records, and good health condition. Overseas Chinese students should acquire foreign long-term or permanent right of residence, besides the record of having been resided in a foreign country for over 2 years in recent 4years (counting back from the registration deadline) (having been resided in a foreign country up to 9 months will be rated as 1 year, but studying abroad or working in a foreign country is invalid). Students, who migrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan to a foreign country as a foreign student, must have been possessing the valid foreign passport or verification of nationality for at least 4 years, besides the record of having been resided in a foreign country for over 2 years in recent 4years (counting back from the registration deadline).

V. Admission

Directly making an application, and after the verification, the excellent candidates will be admitted.

VI. Application Procedures

1. Applicants of the scholarship for the students of the overseas Chinese language and culture education specialty please contact their local Chinese embassy or entrusted agents.

2. Self-supporting students can make an application by a recommended unit, a recommender or by themselves, and submit the application materials to the Admission Office of the Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University in person, by mail, by fax, or by E-mail.

VII. Application Materials

1. Please the scholarship applicants fill in the Scholarship Application Form for the Student of the Chinese Language and Culture Education Specialty, and the self-supporting students fill in Entrance Application Form of the Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University. Please log into the website http://hwxy.hqu.edu.cn, and click on the special subject of admission, download the form, fill it out, then have it printed and sign your signature for conformation.

2. Two color photos, which should be taken recently, two-inch (size: 35mm×50mm), half-length and bareheaded.

3. Copies of passport or other valid identity documents. The original documents will be checked when transacting the registration procedures. Overseas Chinese students must hold Chinese passport and foreign long-term or permanent residence certificate; submit the notarial certificate or the original certification issued by their local Chinese embassies or consulates, which is used to certify possessing the right of foreign long-term or permanent residence and the fact that having been resided in foreign country for more than 2 years, and the recent 4 years’ (counting back from the registration deadline) the Search Result of Exit-Entry Records of the examinees themselves, issued by the Exit-Entry Administration of Xiamen Municipal (or Quanzhou Municipal) Public Security Bureau.

Students, who migrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan to a foreign country as a foreign student, must have been possessing the valid foreign passport or verification of nationality for at least 4 years, besides the record of having been resided in a foreign country for over 2 years in recent 4years (counting back from the registration deadline) (having been resided in a foreign country up to 9 months will be rated as 1 year, which is subject to the time of entry and exit signature); and the recent 4 years’ (counting back from the registration deadline) the Search Result of Exit-Entry Records of the examinees themselves, issued by the Exit-Entry Administration of Xiamen Municipal (or Quanzhou Municipal) Public Security Bureau.

4. The graduation certificate or the credential of senior high school or even higher than it, and every academic year’s transcript should be notarized or authenticated by the local Chinese embassy or consulate. If the above documents are written in non-Chinese or non-English, then they should be translated into Chinese or English. The above original documents will be checked when transacting the registration procedures.

5. The original recommendation letter from the local Chinese embassy or local overseas Chinese societies and communities, or secondary school principals.

6. The scholarship applicants must submit the copy of the agreement on returning to their native country to undertake the career of the Chinese language and culture education. The above original document will be checked when transacting the registration procedures.

7. Physical Examination Form

Students are required to take a physical examination in their native countries’ medical institutions and secure their health certificate, which will be submitted to the college together with their X-ray film, blood examination record.

VIII. Registration Deadline

For scholarship students: the closing date is May 30, 2019. For self-supporting students: the closing date is July 30, 2019.

IX. The Transaction of Study Visa

Overseas Chinese students should go to their local Chinese embassies or consulates to transact the student visa procedures by taking Admission Notice, and foreign students should do the above affair by taking Admission Notice and JW202 Form. Within 30 days after entering China, all students must change visa X into residence permit, and the fees for the permit and physical examination should be payed at students’ own expenses.

X. Insurance

In accordance with the regulation of the Ministry of Education, foreign students who intend to study in China for one semester or longer are advised to buy comprehensive insurance before entering China as instructed in Procedures for Insurance. The admission office will check the student’s insurance statements .

XI. Fees

1. Registration Fees: 500RMB;

2. Teaching Material Fees: 600RMB/academic year;

3. Tuition Fees: 15000RMB/academic year, but it is free for the students who have gained the scholarship for the Students of Overseas Chinese Language and Culture Education Specialty granted by the State Council’s Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs;

4. Accommodation Fees: 1300RMB/person/academic year for a quad room, but it is free for the students who have gained the scholarship for the Students of Overseas Chinese Language and Culture Education Specialty granted by the State Council’s Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs, and the free dormitory room will be arranged by college, which will accommodate four students in one room, furnished with the an air conditioner, a water heater, a private bathroom, etc.;

5. Living Expenses: students who have gained the scholarship for the Students of Overseas Chinese Language and Culture Education Specialty granted by the State Council’s Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs can gain a certain sum of living expenses every month.
